Preparing life-long learning

Honey Bee Reminder email

We moved into our new Pre-Prep Campus in January 2010 and are fortunate to have the most beautiful view of the Magaliesberg Mountain Range.  We have a secure campus with a large playground.

Having fun and learning through play is definitely a large part of our school day, as play is transformed into learning experiences.

Continual assessments are done throughout the year and never based on one particular activity.

Our qualified staff is nurturing, caring and recognise that each child is different and we strive to accommodate varying needs.

It is our aim to provide for the development of the whole child: social; emotional; cognitive and physical in preparation for their formal school years.

We see this journey of school readiness as a combined one – school and parents alike.

We offer a structured academic programme that focuses on starting on early learning in Numeracy; Literacy and Life Orientation which sets the foundation for future success.

The Grade 0 classes cover the fundamentals of Numeracy; Literacy; Reading and Writing. This prepares the children for Grade 1 and their life-long journey of learning.

Learning must be fun so our program alternates between guided learning and free play. Children learn through play and experiences. Daily we have free play in the water troughs and sensory trays. Children take in everything through their senses. These sensory trays and our sensory garden assist the children to further refine their senses.

An exciting extra-mural programme has been drawn up specifically for the Grade 0 and 00 Pre-Preparatory pupils. Activities take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 13h00 – 13h30. Staff members organise and oversee each activity which takes place at an appropriate venue within the school.

Extra-mural activities are not compulsory and we are aware that many of our pupils already participate in extra activities outside school hours. However, we are happy to offer creative activities, outdoor games, eco-club and music as fun additions to the normal programme.

Activities include:

  • Eco
  • Outdoor
  • Art
  • Crafts
  • Baking
  • Movement
  • Music
  • Drama
  • Storytelling
